Environmental & Construction Law and Spatial Planning

Our professionals provide legal advice and representation to investors, intervening parties, public bodies, as well as civil initiatives and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the fields of environmental law, construction law, and spatial planning law.

We advise and represent clients in procedures for the preparation and adoption of municipal and national spatial planning instruments (e.g. OPN, OPPN, DPN), as well as in the spatial planning and siting of projects in regulated sectors (e.g. energy) and in legally sensitive or restricted areas (e.g. protection zones or areas subject to special regulatory regimes). We also represent clients before administrative authorities in proceedings concerning environmental permits (IED, SEVESO) and consents (environmental, nature conservation, and water-related), in procedures for determining overriding public interest, and in proceedings for the issuance of integrated building permits (IGD). Owing to their in-depth understanding of administrative procedures, their dynamics, and the established practices of administrative authorities, our professionals conduct administrative proceedings strategically, with a focus on the swift fulfilment of legal requirements and the effective achievement of the client’s objectives.

We further represent clients in inspection and supervisory proceedings relating to environmental and nature protection legislation.

A significant part of our practice involves representing clients in environmental and spatial administrative and judicial disputes (disputes under the Environmental Protection Act and the Spatial Planning Act). Our professionals have extensive experience in handling complex matters involving an interplay of private, local, and state interests, and are skilled in identifying and leveraging points of convergence between these interests wherever possible.

In environmental and spatial planning matters, we work closely with external experts, including environmental engineers, designers, architects, and urban planners. We maintain long-term cooperation with trusted professional partners in these fields. This transdisciplinary approach enables a comprehensive understanding of the technical aspects of each matter and allows for more effective and timely resolution of both regulatory proceedings and disputes.
