About Matija Urankar
Attorney-at-Law Matija Urankar is a founding partner and managing director of Law Firm Urankar & Zupančič, Ltd.
Matija combines deep expertise in constitutional and administrative law with broader public law issues at the intersection with private law matters, providing legal advice and representation to both individuals and corporate clients in complex domestic and cross-border projects and disputes. He also has extensive experience representing clients in global mobility matters (immigration and citizenship) and possesses in-depth knowledge and practical experience in private client services.
In his career to date, he has represented clients in significant national and international disputes and projects in the fields of constitutional law and human rights, including participating in legislative drafting, representing clients in constitutional cases, and acting for clients in extradition proceedings. He has advised and represented clients in complex matters related to construction, environmental protection, and spatial planning, and has successfully represented clients in associated commercial disputes and arbitrations. He has been involved in leading global mobility cases, particularly in proceedings for acquiring Slovenian citizenship. For more than ten years, he worked at a top-tier Slovenian law firm, where, as a partner, he successfully led the department for constitutional law and public law matters for several years, gaining in-depth insight into the international legal environment and cross-border cooperation.
Matija has worked for several years as a coach of the moot court team and regularly participates in competitions as a judge. He occasionally contributes as a guest lecturer in courses related to human rights.
Matija communicates with clients in Slovenian, English, Croatian, and Serbian.
